“The truth is no matter how many words you use no one could capture the impact The Game has had on my life. As a young girl, The Game was like a Narnia to me, it was an escape from my usually mediocre life. I learnt the importance of teamwork, creativity and friendship throughout the second age especially when I was faced with unusual challenges. Every faction was so well thought out and offered diverse interactions with each character. I wouldn’t be the same Natasha I am today without the hard work, boldness, absurdity and compassion the Game World and its creators have shown.”

The Game was a project spanning ten years at the Woodford Folk Festival from 2010 to 2020. Evolving every year with new characters and rules to play by. Dozens of characters and set and intricate stories woven over many years, all with silliness at every turn. It livened the streets, gave countless opportunities to meet and play with strangers and spread smiles and laughter through the festival.

“I love playing this game because in it I have a quest and I am deadset on it, it was fun to walk around the fair and see and talk to the characters. this game also made me more comfortable with being social and it really was fun to see people high-five ten people or do jumping stars so we can trade cards.”

The Tree of Forgotten Dreams

People have forgotten the tree of dreams, now they are stuck following their waking desires, which they now call dreams, running from the dark and the strange, they lost what they needed, they lost feeling whole. Their heads adrift in the clouds, their feet wrapped in plastic walking high above the ground.

The dream tree is trying to be remembered, trying to bring us back, but our minds distort and hide the messages, obscuring them in codes, patterns, cyphers, and mysteries. Follow the puzzling trails of thought to rebuild the stories and dreams of the tree, bring it back to life so that it can reawaken in our sleep.

The Forest at the Edge of Dreams

The Tree of Forgotten Dreams died. The ravens who lived in its branches took its last seed and searched for a place to plant it. The soil was barren everywhere, forgotten in each morning’s rush to compete and prosper. As our dreams faded each morning, so did the hopes of finding a place for a new tree. Far on the edges of human experience they found a forest, the last forest, whose soil was rich and trees were strong. Who or what was dreaming this place alive? Tentatively the ravens planted the tree and searched for the few who cared to remember, who dared to wander to the edge of dreams.

An interactive installation and puzzle adventure. Explore any time and meet the ravens each night as the forest wakes.
